Condenser fan motors

The outdoor fan pulls air through your AC coil. Match the numbers on your old motor's label: HP, RPM, volts and rotation.

  1. 1HP: must be the same
  2. 2RPM and volts: must be the same
  3. 3Rotation and shaft: match, or pick a reversible motor

What it does

It spins the fan on top of your outdoor unit. If it stops, the unit overheats and shuts down.

Check the capacitor first

A fan that hums but will not spin is often a bad capacitor, not a bad motor. A capacitor costs less, so check it first.

Safety first

Turn off power at the breaker and the outdoor disconnect. A new motor often needs a new capacitor rated for it. Read the guide.
